Chaz Aguado is an active musician and teacher in Frederick, Baltimore, and Washington Counties in Maryland. He first began learning guitar at the age of 12 while studying with Aaron Jay Myers. Although he is primarily a classical guitarist, his roots began from learning the electric guitar. As a teenager he was heavily influenced by rock and metal guitarists such as John Petrucci, Zakk Wylde, Slash, and James Hetfield. As he continued to take lessons he began to take more interest in classical guitar because of the virtuosic performers such as Manuel Barrueco and David Russell. As his love for music and passion for the guitar grew he knew that a career in music by performing and teaching was all that he wanted to do for the rest of his life.

Mr. Aguado is a doctoral candidate of classical guitar at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia with a Master’s Degree from University of Denver and a Bachelor’s degree at Towson University. He has been teaching guitar privately for 10 years and is the classical guitar teacher at Frederick Community College. He also teaches rock, country, blues, and metal at the Maurice Arenas Guitar Academy in Frederick as well as Music and Arts Centers in Hagerstown and Frederick (MD). Some of the notable pedagogues he has studied classical guitar with are Troy King, Laura Husbands, Mathew Palmer, Jonathan Leatherwood, Julian Gray, and Ricardo Iznaola.

Mr. Aguado performs regularly at many different venues. Most often you can find him performing classical guitar in recital and concert halls. However, he also plays private events such as weddings, dinner parties, wineries, and salon style atmospheres. Not only does he perform as a soloist but also as a chamber artist with vocalists, cellists, violinists, and flutists. It is important to him that no stage is too big or too small and that all performances are essential to his growth as a performing artist.
