What is an artist-teacher?
An artist-teacher is a creative mind that seeks to educate others in varies avenues of their discipline. My discipline is classical guitar performance, pedagogy, and history. However, I do not only identify as a professional performing artist even though it is my primary source of artistic output. It is equally important to me to be an educator in music history, music theory, and music entrepreneurship. I see a lot of myself in the next generation of musicians that I teach, and I feel it is my duty to do what my mentors and teachers did for me. The knowledge, skills, and experiences I have acquired during my career should also be passed on to younger and hungry musicians. Teaching in a classroom is the best output for the sharing what I cherish most. From an introductory course in music theory to a 19th century romanticism seminar, I view teaching and lecturing as an equal part of my life as classical guitar performance.
